Custom plastic injection parts

Take an original part design through design for manufacture, mould-making management and piece production in Asia with FFG. The ABS electronic upper cover below shows this customer co-development route; geometry, interfaces and validation are defined for each new project.

From part brief to delivered component

01

Part design

Review the CAD model and drawing against the intended function, mating parts, surface requirements and target quantities. Resolve design decisions with the customer before tooling.

02

Tooling and validation

Define the tooling route and the checks needed on initial parts. Geometry, tolerances, appearance and fit are agreed for the specific project.

03

Manufacturing and delivery

Plan production, inspection and delivery around the approved part specification and agreed quantities.

Start with the material

ABS

The electronic equipment upper-cover example uses ABS. For a new part, define the exact resin grade, colour, finish and operating requirements alongside the tooling and fit specification.

What to include in your brief

  • What does the part cover or connect to?
  • Do you have a 3D CAD model and a 2D drawing?
  • Which material, finish, tolerances and validation requirements are already defined?
  • What quantities and delivery timing are expected?

Build a useful enquiry

Share the part or assembly drawing, overall dimensions, material or grade if known, interfaces, quantities and timing. Include the requirements you need to validate.
